About me
Felipe Lobo - Creative Director, Strategy Director and
Design Director

Before going to an Exchange Student Program in the US, I have gotten in one of the best private universities in Rio de Janeiro for Industrial Design called Pontifícia Universidade Católica Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RIO), focusing my studies in Graphic Design, Art Direction, Photography, Visual Communication, Advertising and Branding.

In 1999 I have created my final project at university. It was about the Brazilian Progressive Rock Movement resulting in a CD-Book showcasing the discography of the four main important Brazilian progressive rock bands at that time. That was my first portfolio.
I used it to get a job as a junior graphic designer in a design office known in the market for creating important branding and sign design projects, called Valéria London Design. At that time, I was part of a bright graphic design team and together we won some important awards including IDEA/Brasil’s best sign design project in 2001 for Bon Marché Grocery Shop and ABF - Retail Design Institute’s 2012 Design of the year for Bob’s the most important Brazilian fast food company in the market.

Over the next several years, I have worked as graphic designer and project manager in the best design offices in town including Crama Design and Ana Couto Branding & Design. At Crama Design’s office, we developed a very historical and cultural design project, the discography collection box of all albums for the Tropicalia’s internationally renowned artist, Caetano Veloso. At Ana Couto Branding Design’s office, I was the graphic designer leader of a creative team responsible to win important national accounts such as Unibanco Private Bank and Coca-Cola’s energy drink and juices. After ten years working in design offices, I received the opportunity to work in a Global Advertising Company, Ogilvy & Matter Brazil. My graphic design, art direction and branding experience helped me creating activation, shopper marketing and graphic design projects for Coca-Cola, Free, Kool and Pall Mall brands. We won second place at the 2009 Red Ball Awards in the Brand Activation Category for Free, first place in the Brand Activation Category for Pall Mall in the 2010 Red Ball Awards and a gold activation Cannes Award for Sprite a year later.

In my first Canadian work experience, I received an offer to be the Creative Supervisor at OgilvyAction Québec, in Montreal, Canada, in 2011. It took one year for Imperial Tobacco Canada, our most important client, to raise their evaluation of the creative department from “Satisfactory” to “Outstanding.” Philips was another important client for OgilvyAction Québec, now known as Geometry Global Québec, after a global merger between OgilvyAction and G2.

In mid-2013, I received an offer I couldn’t resist. To be the Creative Director for CasaDigital, the most important Digital Agency in Rio de Janeiro’s public sector. For the first time, I was able to explore full 360º graphic design communications, creating both offline and digital projects together from the start, and leading the entire creative department. In 2014, the result of that collaboration turned to reality. I had the opportunity to created a very popular character that explains all of Rio de Janeiro’s city projects. “The Explainer” is a very successful and relevant campaign even today.

As a self employer I have worked for a number of advertising agencies such as Binder, RAF Design and 3A Worldwide. As Digital Creative Supervisor at Binder I was responsible for the digital creative team, linking offline and digital departments of the agency to create powerful 360º graphic design experiences for clients, including Rio de Janeiro’s Province (Prefeitura do Rio de Janeiro), Record TV Channel, the second most popular local broadcast channel in the market, Rio de Janeiro’s Government (Governo do Estado do Rio de Janeiro) and Sesc Brazil. At RAF Design, I was the Design Director, leading the creative team of graphic designers, product designers and copywriters, responsible for the creative graphic design delivery for accounts such as Johnson & Johnson, Loreal Paris and General Mills. As Creative and Strategy Supervisor at H+K Strategies I was responsible for leading a creative team designing Coca Cola's internal graphic design communications. As Creative and Strategy Director at 3A Worldwide, I was responsible for overseeing the creative teams of copywriters, planners, graphic designers, digital and social media of the agency, performing graphic design duties, conceptualizing projects including campaigns, presentations, advertisements and product collateral, as well as member of the executive board attending middle marked accounts such as Mundial Supermarket, GlaxoSmithKline Brazil, Bradesco Insurance, Bandeirantes TV Channel Network Group, BandNews Radio Broadcast, Honda and Audi Dealerships, Toyota, Openenglish, AACD, Compactor, ActionAid, FGV, Naturgy and Pierre Fabre. At MyEffect Inc. I was a Design Director professional performing graphic design duties, conceptualizing, creating and managing print and digital assets for MyEffect, Younga and BridgingTheGap brands. Responsible for creating high-level graphics and illustrations for various projects and product needs, including VR and MR visual communication and marketing materials, 3D design spaces, digital and offline campaigns, presentations, advertisements, communication planning and product collateral, I was also supervising graphic designers and developers. At Tank I was a Senior Art Director performing efficiently creative and planning projects going from campaigns, digital and social media to presentation decks for pitch big new ideas to Pharma clients such as GSK US, Pfizer and Moderna. In addition, I was supervising junior art directors and graphic designers, also directing videographers, developers, producers and other external stakeholders.

Today, I am a Creative and Strategy Director professional with more than 20 years in the field combining offline and digital solutions to create engaging 360º communication experiences. I believe in the power of a great creative environment, and bring good organizational, management, team leading and building skills to the mix. I believe that a big idea comes from a balance between emotional and rational thinking, with heart and passion for aesthetics, and where strategy combined with visual communication create engaging consumer-centric user experiences, like a “Mistura Boa" (Great Blend). Also, I am a College Professor teaching students at Fanshawe College the basic elements of visual communication, branding and storytelling that PR and communication
professionals may incorporate into a campaign including photography and video interactive material for social media and websites.
